As Autumn comes and goes my collection of winter sweaters comes out. The temperatures are a changing and so is my wardrobe. A Winters must comfy sweaters and coloured jeans. Currently my favorite places to shop for big comfy sweaters is Dale of Norway, Sporting life, Woolrich, as well as the local thrift store. Dale of Norway is a pricy brand however the sweaters are insainly comfy and warm. The remind me of christmas sweaters but that just puts me into the christmas mood. School is picking up and my blogging time is being decreased but I will do my best to post often.

Metals
Recently Feist released a new album called Metals. I have been reading a lot of reviews on this album and a lot of people have been saying that the album sounds way different that her other stuff. I beg to differ its the same old Feist. Her voice and singing quality is the same in all of her albums. I quite like this album and have found myself listening to it over and over again. It is quite fitting for the mood I have been in lately and is very easy to sing along too. Feist's new album is one you all should check out if you haven't already. I guarantee you will like it and will not be able to stop listening to it.
I like the first couple of songs more than the rest on the album. I think this is because when I listen to it I tend to always start from the beginning and often don't make it to the end because I get busy.
I have to say that songs 1-4 are my favourite.
1) The bad in Each other

You are a Tourist
Hello friends,
As you might be able to see by the lack of blog posts lately i have been very busy. I'm done 2nd year now and work has begun. I have been working 5 days a week and when i am off im trying to see all of my loverly friends. About a week ago my sister went to NYC. She returned with some lovely things for me. Among her purchases was a pair of Marc by Marc Jacobs earings, a Marc by Marc jacobs heart shaped clutch, a Marc by Marc jacobs umbrella, and a pair of green earings from Stone Flower. I love all the little goodies she got for me. As I said i've been working 5 days a week! yaa for making money again!. I've also been able to make it to a couple blue jays games. I believe i'm good luck because whenever I go to games they win! I think they should pay me to go to games....just a thought!
I've been very dissapointed in the weather. The last couple of days here have been all rainy and cool. I haven't been able to wear any of my super cute summer clothes. Please Toronto weather warm up and become sunny again I beg of you.
On wednesday night I am heading to the Death Cab for Cuttie concert with my friend Alex. It should be tons of fun. This will be my 2nd time seeing Death Cab live and im excited!. Death Cab is releasing another album and Ive had to pleasure to lisen to a couple of the songs. I have to say I am in love with the new songs and can't stop listening and singing them. Please Death Cab finish releasing the album, Heidi would be very happy.

Pink Strat
Pink Strat is the title of Bahamas 2009 album. I recently started listening to the Bahamas again. I've had the album in my I-Tunes for quite some time however it is just recently that I started loving it. Bahamas is a Canadian band. I love the music and the words, its mellow and relaxing. I can't get enought of it. If you don't listen to the bahamas I suggest you get on that. Most of his songs are about love and are just so well sung and played.
Here is a link to youtube and one of his songs.

Summertime
Recently school has taken over my life. I am currently starting my final exams and have been trying to study like mad. I have just finished my first placement and I am happy its over. I learned some but it was not the place for me.
The weather is starting to change which in turn means my clothing changes. I am excited to bring out my summer shoes and clothes and enjoy summer. I am beyond sick of boots and winter jackets. YUCK!
Summer also means a lot of work for me. I work at Canada's Wonderland during the summer. Its a lot of fun and the people are great but it is tons of work. I am excited to start making money again, my bank account is crying.
This is me attempting to study... obviously getting distracted....

Montreal
This weekend my sister and I went to Montreal to go to a concert. We saw Patrick Watson and Timber Timbre. The concert took place outside of Montreal in Sainte-Therese. Here no one spoke english so it was quite fun to get around. I speak french however I find some french speaking people talk too fast and I don't always understand what they are saying.
The concert was amazing! It took place in a college theatre. First Timber Timbre opened the show. They played songs from their new album Creep on Creeping On. I am in love with this new album. It is not yet released however it has been leaked. The songs are creepy and interesting. Timber Timbre sung almost every song from their new album and I have decided my favorite songs are Women, Lonesome Hunter, and Bad Ritual, and Black Water. This was my second time seeing Timber Timbre and, I am seeing Timber Timbre again this time in Toronto on April 8, and I am very excited to see them once again.

After Timber Timbre sung Patrick Watson came on to play an incredible show. He played some classic songs like Big Bird In A Small Cage, and then he played some new songs not yet recorded. Im excited for what is to come. I can't wait for the new album to be released! Patrick Watson Please release ASAP!. He also did a really cool improv song. He asked for words or ideas from the crowd and then used the words to create a song on the spot. The song was odd, as it was about "Rabbits going down a hole" "crocodile's" and "put your arms around me". The song sounded like it could be a song on one of his albums although I don't know how he would incorporate it into his album.
After the concert my sister and I had an interesting adventure getting back to Montreal. We missed the last bus and ended up splitting a cab with two random french people who were at the concert. It was entertaining because we told them we don't speak french so, in the cab when they were talking about us we could understand them. It was entertaining. We arrived back to the hotel and slept in the most comfortable bed ever!. I quite enjoyed that.
The next day my sister and I went shopping and eating on St-Catherine's Street. I purchased a few things: A dress, three shirts, and a spring jacket that I am dying to wear. Their are a couple of stores that are a must for me to go to. Simons, Boudoir, and olivia. If you are heading to Montreal you should defiantly check out these stores. Our day was entertaining because we were so tired from our adventure that everything was hilarious and we kept needing to take breaks. We spent a lot of time in food courts sitting and laughing and trying to understand the surrounding people.
After our day of shopping and eating we headed to Berri- Uqam to take the Mega Bus home. The bus was pretty empty so we both got two seats to ourselves. I actually got a bit of sleep which was needed as we arrived in Toronto at 330 am and i had work the next day at 9.
I want to go back again. Its always fun heading out with my sister on an adventure. Emily lets go back :)

Mumford and Sons
I've loved Mumford and Sons for a while now, however lately my love has grown. I can't stop listening to them. The lyrics and the music just work so well together and are perfect for any of my moods. I feel my love will continue to grow in the future. I get in these moods where when ever I listen to music I tend to listen to the same band over and over again. And Mumford is the one right now.
The Cave is my favorite song. And i cant get enough...
Enjoy

Last night I had a dream we were inseparably entwined
Recently my time has been occupied with a lot of school work. So i haven't been doing very much interesting stuff to blog about. Recently for a school project I had to counsel someone so I counseled my sister. It was hilarious. She quite possibly is one of the funniest people I know and she did a great job! I wish i could post the video, but its kinda embarrassing and she would be upset with me. So i'm not going to.
Thanks Emily :) You're hilarious and made the assignment bearable.

One of my favorite things to do it see bands play live. I love the atmosphere and their is something about seeing a band live that just makes me so happy. I absolutely love it! Plants and Animals, and Karkwa
Last night I attended the Plants and Animals and Karkwa concert. Karkwa is a french band from Quebec that I'm completely in love with. I admit that I sometimes don't understand what their singing about but I still love them.
I attended the concert with my sister. We originally purchases tickets because Karkwa was the opening band. They were really good live. I enjoyed seeing them at Lee's Palace because its a smaller venue. I think that there type of music is better in smaller venues. Karkwa was 2010's winner of the Polaris Music Prize and they deserve it, I completely understand and see why they were chosen. I can't wait for there next album.
Plants and Animals were equally amazing. I am not a huge fan however I did enjoy their lyrics and the band was very energetic. I thought they were better live than they are on their CD. They got the crowd singing and dancing and it was a lot of fun.
I would recommend listening and seeing Karkwa and Plants and Animals. They are awesome bands! My favorite song by Karkwa is Les Enfants De Beyrouth and by Plants and Animals it would be Good Friend.
The only thing that annoyed me about the concert was that doors opened at 9 but Karkwa the opening band didn't come on till 10:30. Yes bands don't start when the doors open I think an hour and a half was a tad long to wait.
I have placed the links to Les Enfants De Beyrouth and also Good Friend.
Hope you enjoy them
Love always,
Heidi xoxo

Slip into your skin
Slip into your skin and spend the night
Get outta mine
Walking in streets at dark
Where the lamps are the sunshine
For the trees
Oh for the trees
‘Cause everybody needs somebody
To hold on
Oh everybody needs somebody
To hold on
When you’re feet are leaving the groud
Leaving the ground
Leaving the ground
Leaving the ground
Be the blanket for my bones
Be a place that I call home
Slipped into your skin and spent the night
‘Cause I feel like a different man
I feel it when I’m with you
When I’m with you
When I’m with you
When I’m with you

Scream like your being swallowed by a whale
Last night I attended The Decembersits concert with my sister at the Sound Academy. It was amazing. If you don't know who The Decembersits are you should get on that ASAP. They didn't play just one album they played a variety of songs from their albums. The concert started out with the voice of the Mayor of Portland (home town of the decemberists). He asked everyone in the audience to introduce themselves to the person on either sides of you. The voice was hilarious and un-expected.
Heres the set list from last nights awesome concert!
1. Song for Myla Goldberg
2. Down by the water
3. Calamity song
4. Rise to me
5. Wont want for love
6. The Crane wife 3
7.The sporting life
8. The engine driver
9. All Arise
10. January Hymm
11. Dont carry it all
12. The rake song
13. 16 military wives
Encore
1. The Chimbly sweep
2. The Mariners Revenge song
Encore
1. June Hymm
I was thrilled with the set list. I thought that January Hymm was perfect for the evening that was unfolding. Snow hit Toronto which was ironic because the song is about shoveling snow. I think the original singer of The crane wife 3 (The Hazards or love) sings the song better however the song was still amazing.
Colin taught the crowd how to scream like your being swallowed by a whale for the encore number The Mariners Revenge. This song is hilarious! and the band kept doing funny things. At one point during the concert Colin went into the crowd and took someones camera and then brought it up on to the stage and begun to take picture of the band as well as the crowd. The entire band was definitely feeling the alcohol during the concert but it was hilarious and made the concert even better.
My sister and I had VIP seats for the first time at the Sound Academy. They were awesome. Great view without any heads blocking. We got to see the concert from the balcony which was interesting especially when Colin asked the entire crowd to sit down, then at once the entire crowd stood up. It looked awesome from above. We had seats, our own coat check (and for anyone who ever has been to the Sound Academy before and have checked your coat you are well aware it takes almost 30 minutes to get your coat), we had our own fancy bathrooms and two bars. The floor was packed and I was glad I got to enjoy this concert in comfort from my seat.
Tons of fun, awesome band.
Here's a Youtube video i found of the Mariners Revenge. You can see and hear whats its like to be swallowed by a whale. The video's not the best quality but it is still good. Enjoy.

The Dog Days Are Over
Over the past couple of days a song has been stuck in my brain. Luckily this is a song I actually like and is not incredible annoying. I find myself singing it and dancing in my seat and maybe even in the shower. I was on the bus today listening and dancing and the guy beside me looked at me like i was crazy but hey I was having fun buddy. This song is happy and upbeat and is a good change for the depressing winter landscape outside my window.
I decided to Youtube it and the video confused me greatly. I thought it was going to be this happy go lucky happy video but no it was odd and strange. The video is typical for the band Florance And The Machine however it was not what I pictured in my mind. If I were to make this video it would be a lot different. That could be fun.
Here's the link to the strange and odd but yet awesome video.

The King is Dead
Hey everyone,
This holiday season one of my favorite bands The Decemberists leaked their new album The King is Dead. I am completely in love with this album. It doesn't sound like any other album by The Decemberists but when you listen to it you can hear the resemblance to The Hazards of Love.
The King is Dead was recorded in a barn in rural Portland, and it is evident from the start. This album feels organic and earthly from the beginning to the end. This album is very country sounding and I'm not a lover for country but this I can't get enough of. I love how their albums tell a story. The Hazards of Love should be turned into a musical the score and story would be an incredible musical that has never been seen before.
The Decemberists are amazing and every album has its own awesome vibe. Their music I can listen to in every mood whether I'm happy or sad its incredible. Thank you to The Decemberists for an awesome soundtrack to my winter break.
Below are four of my favorite songs on their new album The King is Dead. I can't wait to see them in concert February 1st!
Love always,
Heidi xoxo
